    Service area: Twin Cities

Conceived in Mississippi and born in St. Paul where I currently reside. I graduated from Central High school as a teen mom and went to college. After completing two years I decided to work fulltime. At the age of 33 I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. I have always had a passion to serve and assist community with accessing services. My current position is lead me here. I work with a population of birthing persons who have a history of substance use. We found that unhoused birthing persons didn’t have access to doula providers for varies reasons. Many had not received any prenatal care. To address this, I was trained as a doula in 2021. Services are provided to our program participants for free at any stage of pregnancy. I received my CAB certification in 2024. I am BRAVA certified.

I am a travel agent and certified CPR/First Aid, BLS instructor. I love to travel! I have two daughters and 4 grandchildren. I was present for the birth of my grandchildren and I wish I had the knowledge I have now. Being a doula for the birth of the last 2 was amazing.

  • Luna, CAB-CD

    CAB Certified Doula

    Pronouns: she/he

    Service Area: Twin Citites

Hi Im Luna! As a Minnesota Native, I have always had an interest in serving my community and providing honest and transparent services. In 2012 I graduated from Washburn High School with honors and joined the community working for government agencies and doing nonprofit work. I received my BA in English literature with a minor in communications from Metropolitan State University. I am now completing my Masters in Integrated Behavioral Heath at the University of Minnesota.

I developed a passion for advocacy of BIPOC families early on, seeing the need for representation and hearing the stories of my friends and families’ birth. I have 3 beautiful godchildren and supporting their mother through her pregnancies and parenting journey is one of the great privileges in my life. This has emboldened me to want to look at all aspects of birth, postpartum support, and parenting. I wanted to be able to provide evidence-based and holistic support to those who may never even thought about who they lean on during times of transition.

As a birth and postpartum doula, my role is to help empower and hold space for you and your family through the entire journey. If done with compassion and understanding I believe that each birthing person can have a birth experience that leaves them feeling supported and understood. I think that each birth is unique and beautiful and being a part of that journey is one of the greatest joys of my life.

  • Lillian 'Sasha,' CAB-CD

    CAB Certified Doula

    Pronouns: they/them

    Service Area: South Minneapolis

"I am a South Minneapolis-based birth doula and massage therapist. I have been supporting pregnant and postpartum bodies through bodywork for nine years, and began practicing as a birth doula in 2024. This work has brought me such joy. Each birth is different and, whether rocky or smooth, birthing people and their families deserve to be seen, heard, and cared for during that transformation.

My approach to birth, in a nutshell is:

My background with touch and a deep knowledge of our anatomy and physiology is central to how I support my birthing clients.

I prioritize an evidence-based approach.I respect physiological birth and respect medicine as a useful tool when needed/desired. I care about education, agency, and choice.

I am relationship and community centered. I believe that the trust and caring shared between myself and my clients makes all the difference. I have a passion for advocacy.

I am body accepting. I put daily work into respecting and caring for bodies in all of our sizes, shapes, and abilities.

Much of my life orbits care-work, especially through building strong community connections and supporting human bodies as they navigate change. Outside of birth and bodywork, I train in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, I’m slowly learning to bake bread, and I am trying to befriend the neighborhood crows. "

    Pronouns: she/her/hers

    Service Area: Twin Cities Metro

Hi! My name is Sonja and I am a birth doula and death midwife. My work sits at the places where life and death intersect, primarily supporting families facing an expected or unexpected pregnancy or infant/child loss. When life and death collide, support needs shift. I am here to walk with you through the tender time of loss. My work also focuses on grief and death education and designing ceremony/ritual for navigating many types of loss. I hold a full spectrum doula certification from Cornerstone and a doula certification from Community Aware Birthworker. I have received training from Nine Keys, a 9-month long death midwifery program and also have a Master of Public Health, Maternal and Child Health from the University of Minnesota. I currently work at the Minnesota Department of Health as a Grant Specialist in Family Home Visiting. I approach my work from a public health lens, recognizing the power of both preventative measures and the involvement of community in supporting our health and collective wellness. I am passionate about working toward a world in which our society's grief/death illiteracy is seen as much of a public health crisis as any other, knowing that proficiency in these topics would radically shift our orientation towards ourselves and one another. My practice is deeply informed by abolitionist and collective liberation thinkers, makers, and doers.

  • Aisha

    Service Area: St. Cloud

    Languages: Somali and English

Hi! My name is Aisha Amed. I am passionate about working in the healthcare industry and have been for 6+ years. I am currently an LPN who shadowed at the Centra Care Plaza in St Cloud, MN at Women’s Hospital and gained valuable experience. I experienced pregnancy myself and understand how important birth planning is. I went into labor terrified and unsure of my options. I noticed the importance of having a bilingual birth worker who can provide support and advocate for expectant parents. I currently work in the mental health field and work with clients who gave birth before. They mentioned how they would have benefited from a birth worker because of the language barriers and the struggle to find valuable resources to help them ease their pregnancy experience. Due to my bad experience and the need for a Somali birth worker, I was interested in gaining more knowledge and training from professionals in order to best serve my community.

  • Maggie

I grew up in a small, hot, desert country in the horn of Africa. During my time there I was exposed to some of the harsh realities of healthcare in a developing country. More specifically some of the misconceptions and practices in reproductive health. Since returning to the US, I was shocked to hear about how these realities didn’t just apply to developing countries but could be found within our own healthcare systems.

My birth related training includes the CAB doula training, CAB lactation course, and an extensive amount of research done in my own time. My training is ongoing and continuous as I strive to be as up to date and connected as possible.

I received my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and I am currently employed by Medtronic. I am really hoping to apply my sense of drive and love for leaning into a direction that supports and advocates for others.

There is so much more to birth and reproductive health than the scary stories. There is hope, and beauty, and life. As a doula my goal is to protect and cultivate the desired childbirth experience. I strive to be an educated support system and advocate throughout the birthing process.

I believe that all expectant parents deserve an empowered birthing experience. No matter how you give birth, you should feel like you understand your options and are respected, supported, and cared for throughout your birthing journey.

I am a mom with a lifelong passion for reproductive rights and gender equity, and have enjoyed being an advocate in many different settings. As my friends started having kids, and I went through my own pregnancy and birthing journey, I realized the incredible role that doulas play and the enormous benefit of having continuous support for birthing people and their partners. I started reading and learning more about birth, taking childbirth education classes, and eventually completed full Doula and Lactation training with Community Aware Birthworker.

When I’m not doula-ing, you can find me hiking, drinking tea, knitting, and soaking up snuggles with my husband and son. My first career is in public policy, and I currently work a day job as an environmental lobbyist.
